Mental health helpline launched for Australian music industry workers
The helpline will be available 24/7
A 24/7 mental health helpline has been launched for music industry professionals in Australia.
Australian charity Support Act announced its new Wellbeing Helpline this week. The charity has described "the free and confidential service [as] available to anyone working in Australian music who needs to talk to someone about any aspect of their wellbeing. The service will also offer specific urgent support for people who may be a risk to themselves or others."
The move follows growing concern in the music industry of the importance of taking care of the health of those who work in it, particularly following the death of Avicii earlier this year. A similar service was also launched in the UK late last year by charity Help Musicians.
The helpline has been made possible by support from The Tony Foundation and Levi Strauss Australia, and is available in Australia on 1800 959 500.
