Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram set to go head-to-head in charity DJ battle

The mayors of Manchester and Liverpool return for their third DJ battle to raise money for homeless charity A Bed Every Night

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and Steve Rotheram, Mayor of Liverpool City Region are to take part in their third charity DJ battle — raising money for homeless charity A Bed Every Night.

Taking place in Liverpool on February 2, the mayors-turned-DJs will be joined by an array of familiar faces from the north, including singer Rebecca Ferguson and Corrie star Sally Lindsay.

Hosted by Liverpool’s event space, bar, and music venue Camp and Furnace, the event is the third in a series of charity DJ battles between the two mayors.

The pair first showed off their mixing chops during a livestream in 2020, in a battle to determine which city had the best music. All proceeds went towards organizations affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, focusing on the nightlife industry.

Burnham and Rotherham returned in 2022, this time commencing their battle in front of crowds at The Warehouse Project in Manchester. With Burnham being crowned the winner, the event raised over £20,000 for the chosen charity A Bed Every Night.

The charity, launched by Burnham in 2018, provides accommodation to those sleeping rough and others unable to access accommodation.

The 2022 event went on to win the "Leading Live Event of the Year" award at the This is Manchester Awards. In a video posted to Twitter, the mayors, sitting amicably side by side, described the atmosphere as brilliant.
