Matador (Nastia Remix)
Nastia strikes again
Brooding, ominous and aimed at the floor, Matador's productions have always carried weight but this year he's stepped things up and 2016 has been one of his best yet.
At the start of 2016 he released 'The Enemy' EP which kickstarted his new imprint Rukus and the record featured the inimitable talents of Felix Da Housecat. Skip to April and his debut album 'Ructions' reared its head before he headed on the road to hit some pretty impressive tour dates.
Awakenings, Loveland Live at Sonar and Movement Detroit were all epic stops on the Irishman's travels but now it's time for some 'Ructions' remixes and we've got an exclusive from the EP.
Oliver Huntemann and Fur Coat are among the remixers but here we focus solely on Nastia's reimagining of 'Harcourt Street'. It's no secret we're big fans of Nastia either, her Selects playlist earlier in the month revealed the tracks that make her tick and we've had it on repeat since.
Her sultry, slamming style of dub-techno has won her plaudits all over the world and her 'Harcourt Street' remix is more of the glorious same. It's a spaced-out cut that wriggles and navigates through intergalactic murmurs, feverish yet intricate percussion and a rough, staggered set of kicks.
A seriously good remix of an artist who's experiencing a year to remember. A perfect fit then.
The 'Ructions Remix EP 1' will be released via Beatport on August 1
