Machinedrum returns to the park

Travis Stewart, the artist often known as Machinedrum, releases a new LP as tstewart this week, and his esteemed electronic colleague Si Bonobo is also behind the album’s stunning cover shot.

He’s recently announced a show on Rinse FM as Machinedrum and will be showcasing his tstewart alias on there as well.

The ‘Elysian’ album is based on his walks around his favourite place in the world, the Elysian Park in LA. The park symbolises the tranquillity he wanted to capture in the alter ego.

We can confirm that the album itself is a beautiful, piano-strewn downtempo electronic affair with the odd nod to Einaudi.

“There are 282 steps leading into Elysian Park,” says Travis. “It’s the sort of staircase that never seems to finish, bringing a grandiose element into play. You can hear this across the record, as the first tracks continue to build upon one another before crescendo-ing in “Baxter Climb.”
