Lux & Hermetics unveil 'Aurora' EP
"We discovered a whole universe of textures that, instead of moving away from the emotion of our first EP, approached it from a different perspective"
Lux & Hermetics - decade-long friends and collaborators, with a shared love for intertwining philosophy, psychology and spirituality into their work - have released their latest EP, 'Aurora'.
With an underpinning sense of wonder, mystery and sanctitude, its three tracks meander through warm, Balearic notes, Latin infusions (perhaps an inevitability, with the EP recorded in Buenos Aires last year) and reflective affairs through both soft and more driving crescendos, arpeggiations and beyond.

"When we started working on this EP, we had no idea that we were going to make it dance-oriented, much less with garage and house nuances," Hermetics tells Mixmag. "We probably thought we were going to do something similar to our first EP, 'Helios EP', which is more Downtempo and introspective. But as soon as we added a 4x4 kick, it felt natural, and we discovered a whole universe of textures that, instead of moving away from the emotion of our first EP, approached it from a different perspective. We realised that Lux & Hermetics is a project destined to mutate with each release, and this is just our most dancefloor-oriented aspect."
"In crafting this EP, our aim was to delve into uncharted territories of composition, shedding the constraints of convention to embrace intuition and passion," adds Lux. "We believe that the true essence of music lies not in control, but in surrender. Collaborating on our music in a space of comfort enables us to harness the raw creativity born from the fusion of our individual worlds, fearlessly pushing boundaries.
"This journey has led us to discover rich sonic landscapes, ethereal atmospheres, and evocative textures that stir subtle emotions, awaken dormant memories, and weave a tapestry of nostalgia, reminiscent of cherished ruins where time stands still and the soul finds solace in the present."
