London's Oval Space is opening a new venue in October

London clubbers, rejoice

Finally some good news for clubbers!

Oval Space - a warehouse space in Bethnal Green, East London - is opening a new venue, The Pickle Factory.

Billed as an "intimate new space for music lovers", Fridays will be helmed by an in-house team promising "esoteric artists and out of the ordinary bookings, with plenty of unannounced guests", while Saturdays will be under the control of guest promoters. There will be plenty of in-week live shows, too.

You can expect a crisp, yet-to-be-released soundsystem from d&b audiotechnik and "minimal frills, stripped back lighting" when it opens in October, with the team placing it at the other end of the spectrum to Oval Space.

A statement on the website says: "Where Oval Space is characterised by its lofty dimensions and floor to ceiling windows, The Pickle Factory will present an altogether contrasting proposition; intimate and dark, with warm sound filling its womb-like environs."

Following news of Phonox opening in Brixton, it'll bring a sigh of relief to clubbers after yesterday's report that the number of clubs in the UK has almost halved since 2005.
