Live Nation cancels Los Angeles festival, places restrictions on others
This year's A Night at Fairplex has been axed after two young women passed away at HARD Summer
After two deaths at HARD Summer in Los Angeles, Live Nation has taken action regarding its upcoming events.
There were talks of LA officials placing a temporary ban on festivals at county-owned land after the reported drug-related deaths so, in order for that to be avoided, the events promoter has cancelled HARD's A Night at Fairplex that was scheduled for September 10.
On top of that, Halloween festival Hard Day of the Dead, which Jamie Jones, Diplo and Claude VonStroke are playing, has had its capacity capped at 40,000, the duration reduced and the age limit raised to 21-years-old. Live Nation has also said drug education will be available on-site, with increased security and access to free water.
The promoter's spokeswoman, Alexandra Greenberg, issued a statement regarding its communication with County Supervisors regarding future events.
"Festival organizers and promoters are pleased to have worked quickly with the County Supervisors in order to complete the County's inquiry and bring about the agreed upon modifications to our operations for HARD Day of the Dead at Fairplex, which will further our fans to have a safe and fun time."
Hilda Solis, a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, is reportedly debating setting up a taskforce aimed at dance music events, despite understanding the importance of them for the area.
She said: "While the Board supports music events in the County, what is of paramount importance is the health and safety of the youth attending these events."
