Robert Hood may be a founding father of the especially repetitive and subtle strain of techno known as minimal, but he’s well adept at spinning raucous and visceral music, as he proved at Weather Festival earlier this summer with a two-hour hip hop set.
Moving through cuts from artists and groups such as Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang Clan and Notorious B.I.G., it was a heavily East Coast flavoured set.
Hood stamped his own signature over the mix, blending the records in a techno mixing style with less quick transitions between tracks than a hip hop DJ.
