​Leon Vynehall gets ancestral for his Ninja Tune debut LP ‘Nothing Is Still’

Prolific Brighton-based artist Leon Vynehall has announced the release of his of debut full-length LP ‘Nothing Is Still’ - slated for release via Ninja Tune on June 15.

While the artist’s beautifully and thoughtfully crafted dancefloor efforts are well known by most electronic music aficionados, ‘Nothing Is Still’ dives into an deep, orchestral sound which soundtracks the artist’s musical roots and his family’s ancestral story that inspired this most recent record.

Following the death of his grandfather, a series of polaroid pictures shown to him by his grandmother drove the artist towards a new musical awakening, saying “I felt the need to document this period for her, and it all just sort of snowballed from there."

Atmospheric and textural at its core, Vynehall cites pioneering minimalist artists such as Philip Glass and Terry Riley for this fresh and emotional body of work. Written and performed by Vynehall, the album taps a number of other musicians to help incorporate the album's piano, saxophone, flute and ten string section.

The new instrumentally focused approach to his music will be further solidified with a new live-set that the artist is currently constructing. Tour dates have not yet been announced.
