Lava La Rue unveils their latest EP, 'Hi-Fidelity'

It consists of five tracks, including freshly released single 'Motel' taken from the record

Lava La Rue has released their new EP, 'Hi-Fidelity'.

Rooted in the shared cultures of West London and the west coast of America, illustrating a slow-moving, laidback culture and shared sociological structures, the record demonstrates a creative transition which La Rue describes as "one last project" which "acts as the bridge between the Lava that debuted, the one everyone knows, and the person I’m becoming."

'Hi-Fidelity' was born in LA at the beginning of the pandemic, with the EP's title track being brewed up on a whim during a session with Foster the People's Isom Innis, offering a spaced-out, psychedelic cut.

The EP ends with 'Motel', which has been released as a single simultaneous to the EP drop. It features a chugging bassline from longtime collaborator Saya Gray with a melody that illustrates the creative evolution of La Rue, accompanied by their soaring vocals.

On the intentions behind the 'Hi-Fidelity' record aside from their evolution, Lava notes it as one which they want to hear blasted “out the back of someone’s pickup truck going on a road trip with their mates, or a cheeky remixed version being played in a dingey gay dive bar".

For those wanting to see the EP live, the artist will be playing a London headline show at Heaven on September 20 where 'Hi-Fidelity' will be showcased alongside their back catalogue, having already graced Glastonbury earlier this year and previously the Royal Albert Hall.
