Lady Leshurr allegedly attacked ex-girlfriend and her partner, court hears

The ‘Queen's Speech’ rapper reportedly bit her ex-girlfriend's partner on the hand causing nerve damage

London rapper Lady Leshurr, has appeared in court for allegedly attacking her ex-girlfriend and her then-partner.

Leshurr, real name Melesha O’Garro, appeared in Snaresbrook Crown Court this week charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against her ex-girlfriend Sidnee Hussein, and Hussein’s partner at the time, Chante Boyea.

In October last year, O’Garro alongside her co-defendant Sherelle Smith were charged with assault after police responded to the fight in Walthamstow, East London.

According to the BBC, the court heard that both O’Garro and Smith waited outside Hussein’s house before the attack.

Boyea told jurors she was driving to work when two women flagged down her car appearing to need her help.

She claims that the women were "running and screaming and "shouting help, please help", so "as a normal civilian I went to give help".

Boyea added: "She (O'Garro) was running towards me, quite quickly, and threw punches which, a few of them did strike me, I then put my left hand out to defend myself."

Allegedly O’Garro bit Boyea on the hand resulting in “a number of injuries” such as nerve damage.

Boyea said that the nerve damage to her left hand has resulted in her no longer being able to fulfil her role as a dog trainer because she cannot hold a dog securely, LBC report.

"I will never be able to continue in that line of work again," she said.

O’Garro has denied biting Boyea.

Prosecutor Polly Dyer claimed that O’Garro explained in her police interview that Hussein and Boyea owned a dog, which “Boyea was directing to get her”.

O’Garro alleges that the dog had bitten her and that she was also “punched in the head and stamped on by Boyea”, according to Dyer.

Dyer also claimed that O’Garro told officers in her police interview that Hussein and Boyea owned a pet dog, which “Boyea was directing to get her”. O’Garro alleged the pet dog had bitten her, and that she was also “punched in the head and stamped on by Boyea”, Dyer said.

Co-defendant Sherelle Smith said in her police interview that O’Garro was apparently “dragged” into the car by Boyea and attacked.

Smith continued to add in court that both Hussein and her dog bit her and that Boyea punched her in the “back of the head”.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendants lied in the police interviews and that their accounts do not explain the complainants’ injuries.

Solihull-born Lady Leshurr is best known for her freestyle series ‘Queen’s Speech’ and has previously won a MOBO award for Best Female Act as well as hosted her own show on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

The trial is ongoing.
