Kode9 has ended his 13-year radio show on Rinse FM
The Hyperdub founder takes a bow
Last night, Steve Goodman, label-founder of Hyberdub and the alias behind Kode9, has officially ended his radio series on Rinse FM after a 13-year run.
The seminal 'Hyperdub' show brought musical freedom and a fresh wave of dubstep, grime and experimental sounds in an age where such types of music had little major broadcasting time.
The historic series invited a number of immense talent over the years, including a 2007 mix with Flying Lotus that brought together the Glasgow, Bristol and LA dubstep scenes, arguably forging a global turning point for the then-underground genre.
Kode9's 'Hyberdub' episodes also lead to major releases like 'Rinse:22', a compilation of the producer's top cuts from the radio series over the years. The album was not only a keen selection, but a timeline of the genre-rich club community told by Goodman.
During his last installment, Kode9 invited label-affiliate Cooly G to the mix and paid tribute to the late DJ Rashad on what would have been his 37th birthday.
