Ken Ishii teams up with Kamara for fierce techno EP

The record is available via Rekids Special Projects

Ken Ishii has teamed up with duo Kamara to share a collaborative record, 'Powerplay'.

Available via Radio Slave's Rekids Special Projects imprint, the two-tracker contrasts in each tune's individual sounds - opener 'Powerplay' is more industrial and analogous, with follow-up 'Quinten' employing more creative, glitched-out sounds - both united by their driving techno nature.

From the outset and throughout, each contributor's individual skills and styles shine through into an infusion of expression from the Japanese techno veteran and Dutch live-act.

"The Kamara guys contacted me one day saying they were curious about collaborating with me," Ishii explaiins. "I love their releases on Tronic and others and I instantly thought it would be interesting. The result is a nice combination of my glitchy sounds and Kamara's mixing and layering techniques as live techno performers."

"It has been a great experience to work with Ken who we’ve always revered," Kamara continue. "From the moment we connected the ideas came. ‘Powerplay’ is about mechanics, which comes through in the sounds. The other side of the spectrum is ‘Quinten’, which delves into the creative realms.

"The tracks are contrasting yet entwined, making them a nicely balanced two tracks."
