Kelly Lee Owens releases track for FIFA Women’s World Cup, ‘Unity’
The welsh producer has created a bespoke single for the 2023 event
Written and produced specially for FIFA’s next Women’s World Cup which is set to be held in Australia & New Zealand, Kelly Lee Owens has created the first anthem for the 2023 event.
Inspired by both Owens’ and FIFA’s shared values, ‘Unity’ also led to a joint contribution to the future event’s slogan, ‘Beyond Greatness’, which will be used for the 2023 World Cup.

Speaking on the new track, Owens said: “Our values were completely aligned. [FIFA] kept using the word epic and I just took that and ran with it and made it as epic and bold as I could.”
“I put everything I had into it – rising arpeggios, rising basslines. It’s led with my voice, but I wanted the sense of community brought in with choirs,” she continued.
The Welsh producer rose to fame after her acclaimed self-titled debut release just four years ago, followed by her 2020 album ‘Inner Song’.
In those four years since, the producer has come to work with the likes of Jon Hopkins, Bjørk, Sigrid, Daniel Avery, and St. Vincent.

Owens posted a graphic alongside the announcement on Instagram yesterday, adding, “I’m thrilled to share with you all today my new single ‘Unity’.”
The next FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to take place from July through August 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. The sporting event will incorporate motifs from indigenous people of both regions.
Owens is set to begin touring the UK next month after postponing it in June. “I don’t cancel things lightly, but I have to look after myself,” she said after the cancellation.
