Italy's Phonat puts his spin on 'FML'
Alternative songbird K.Flay came charging into the year with her lead single 'FML', a tortured, sultry tune that plays to the strengths of Kristine Flaherty's emotive vocals. Catch the original's fully animated video counterpart here.
'FML' has picked up its fair share of remix efforts, and today's arrives from newcomer Phonat. Italian-born Michele Balduzzi first caught the attention of tastemaker Skrillex, who was quick to capture the producer on his OWSLA imprint in 2015.
Phonat's remix of 'FML' takes where K.Flay leaves off in her original release, building with a hypnotically enticing bass beat reinvention. Known for his ability to defy genres, Phonat finds an aural ease somewhere between the pop and low end electronic spectrum for his latest output.
Balancing the rich volume of K.Flay's chorus croons with the high-spirited bounces of his snares, 'FML' is yet another tune for the up-and-coming producer to add to his growing artillery.
