James Isaacs of Melbourne duo Donald’s House has died

Alongside his brother, James released on labels including Touch From A Distance and Permanent Vacation

James Isaacs, one half of brother duo Donald’s House, has died, his agency has confirmed.

Melbourne-based artist management company Tangle Agency shared the news in an Instagram post earlier today, writing: “[We’re] deeply saddened to announce the passing of James Isaacs from Donald’s House.”

“James will be remembered as a dear friend to our team and his memory will live on with the music he produced. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones,” they wrote. His cause of death is currently unclear.

Alongside his brother, Peter Isaacs, James was part of the DJ-producer duo Donald’s House, who released on labels including Touch From A Distance and Permanent Vacation.

The Naarm-born and raised pair – known for their distinct style blending ‘90s house, italo disco, and psychedelic rhythms – had recently performed shows from Bali’s new Klymax Discotheque to Bangkok venue Katsu.

James began playing instruments at the age of six, and later began toying with production alongside his brother. In a 2020 interview with Torture The Artist, James described the duo’s production style as a “complement to each other’s weaknesses”.

In the same interview, he explained: “Pete and I have gone through lots of different styles over the years – this has kept me pretty musically fulfilled.”

“Funeral arrangements will be shared with family and friends in the coming days,” James’ agency said in a statement. Read the full post below.
