James Cameron: "The next Terminator film will continue from Terminator 2"

Coming to screens near you in 2019

Sci-fi fans around the world would have been buzzing when it was announced the Terminator franchise would go on, and that feeling will be exemplified now thanks to some words from creator James Cameron.

He's insisted that Terminator 6 will follow on directly from T2, also stating him and director Tim Miller would work to pretend the previous less well-received sequels never really happened.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the next film, due to arrive in July, 2019, Cameron detailed what fans should expect.

"This is a continuation of the story from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. And we're pretending the other films were a bad dream. Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multi-verse.

"This was really driven more by [Tim] than anybody, surprisingly, because I came in pretty agnostic about where we took it. The only thing I insisted on was that we somehow revamp it and reinvent it for the 21st century."
