Is Trax the Label Of The Decade? Vote now
Founded in 1984, Trax is arguably the first ever house music label. Founded by Jesse Saunders, Larry Sherman, Vince Lawrence and Screamin’ Rachael, think of any early-era house banger and it was probably released on Trax. Phuture’s ‘Acid Trax’, ‘Move Your Body’ by Marshall Jefferson and the Frankie Knuckles anthem ‘Your Love’ were all released by the label, while Robert Owens and Mr Fingers called it home for years. After a period of instability in which it became a subsidiary of a Canadian corporation, the original founders won back control and went about putting out stellar compilations and re-releases.
