Is Ram Records the Label Of The Decade? Vote now
Others might come close, but Ram Records is objectively the biggest d’n’b label on earth. Headed up by “The Executioner” Andy C, Ram has, in recent years become a conveyor belt for the biggest d’n’b stars in history, with a knack for upstreaming poppy vocal tracks to majors (Sub Focus, Chase and Status, Wilkinson, the list goes on and on).
Launched by Andy C in 1992 (age 15), he borrowed some cash from his Dad, had his sister draw the logo and got to work releasing late hardcore and early jungle, made exclusively by him and his mates. Starting things off with the ‘Sour Mash’ EP in 92, Andy soon released Valley of the Shadows by Origin Unknown, which set the blueprint in 1994 for years of roaring drum n bass success which followed.
