Insomniac welcomes on-site drug education for the first time in 10 years

In partnership with the Drug Policy Alliance, the harm reduction effort begins this weekend

Insomniac Events has announced an exciting and important partnership with the DPA, also known as the Drug Policy Alliance.

The collaborative effort will be called 'Project: #OpenTalk' and will bring on-site information to festival goers about mind-altering substances, sex and mental health. The information aims to be unbiased and hopes to encourage open conversation in an effort to reduce harm and deaths related to drugs.

The project will mark Insomniac's first work with an advocacy group in 10 years, likely established in response to the growing attention towards festival hospitalizations and deaths in 2016.

"While Insomniac still has a zero tolerance drug policy and conducts entry searches, they at least acknowledge that more needs to be done to keep their attendees informed and safe," Stefanie Jones of DPA's Safer Partying campaign explained in an official statement.

'Project #OpenTalk' will launch this weekend at Insomniac's Halloween event, Escape: Psycho Circus, in San Bernardino, California.
