Illegal rave at disused Morrisons supermarket shut down by police

The squat rave only lasted a few hours

Supermarket ravers were met by riot police in West London at the weekend.

Over 1,500 people made their way to a disused Morrisons supermarket in Hounslow on Saturday, but the squat rave was cut short after security staff, rushed by revellers going into the venue, called police.

Local reports say 200 police officers turned up and photos show they were armed with shields and wearing helmets.

The supermarket has been shut for nine months and security were called to the site last Thursday after squatters apparently set off an alarm.

Having started at 11pm, the party was eventually shut down by 2.30am, with the music equipment being seized by the Metropolitan Police.

No arrests were made and no injuries were reported.
