IKEA and Swedish House Mafia’s turntable set to hit stores next month
The OBEGRÄNSAD collection includes over 20 other items
The first items from Swedish House Mafia’s collaboration with IKEA are set to hit stores next month, including the all-black turntable.
Named the OBEGRÄNSAD collection which translates to "unrestricted" includes over 20 items of furniture.
This turntable will also be the first made by IKEA since 1973 and is said by the Swedish ready-to-assemble furniture brand to be “a record player bold, yet simple and affordable.”

It's USB-C powered, Bluetooth compatible and comes with a spare needle and cartridge.
Other items from the collection include accessories, interior solutions and pieces aimed specifically at DJs, producers and musicians with a DJ console and record shelves.
“Before meeting with Swedish House Mafia, we decided not to go into electronics too much, because of the challenges they pose. But then one of the guys from the band started talking about making a record player, and all of a sudden, I forgot everything we had discussed,” Carmen Product Design Engineer of the turntable tells IKEA.
“Today you see a lot of slim record players that are almost trying to hide, but we wanted something very bold, and we wanted the record player to be a very physical manifestation of music”, says designer Friso Wiersma to IKEA.
“Everything with Swedish House Mafia is a very conscious statement. I really like that approach. Music is a big part of my life as well. I would want to showcase that in my interior too”.

In June, IKEA shared a redesign of its iconic FRAKTA bag — including a black version of the existing bag and a rework into a laptop bag and a vinyl record bag.
The OBEGRÄNSAD collection goes live in October with the turntable priced at around £140. Find out more information on the items included in the collection here.
