The expected record number of tourists could put pressure on the Balearic Islands
A ban on tourist cars entering the Balearic Islands may be introduced this year.
Tourism officials in Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera are considering doing so as the destinations are expected to welcome a record number of visitors - 13.5 million - following terrorist attacks in Egypt and Tunisia.
There's a fear there will be too much traffic on the islands if people are allowed to travel in their own vehicles, with the negative impact on the environment also a factor. Experts are saying there may not be enough water or resources to cope with the growing number of holidaymakers.
Ticket-selling on the streets of San Antonio has also been banned, while a tourist tax will come into play on July 1.
