Hyperdub announce collection of pioneering Japanese video game music

'Diggin In The Carts' arrives in November

Hyperdub announces ‘Diggin’ In The Carts’, a collection of rare and pioneering Japanese video game music, set for release in November.

The compilation dives into the rare archives of the ‘chip era’ of Japanese video game music and showcases composers pushing technology to its limits to achieve unique sounds.

The release comes following the 2014 documentary series ‘Diggin’ In The Carts’ by Red Bull Music Academy which focuses on some of Japan’s most influential video game music composers.

Nick Dwyer, writer and co-director of the documentary series, researched and curated the music collection alongside Kode9, head of the Hyperdub label. The collection also features artwork by Japanese anime artist Koji Morimoto, who is renowned for his distinct style.

'Diggin In The Carts' will be released on CD and digital on November 17th and vinyl on February 16. A release party will also be hosted at fabric on November 30, head to the Facebook event for further details.
