Houston Police arrest 33-year-old man in relation to Takeoff’s murder
Another Houston man was also arrested and charged with possession of a weapon
Houston Police have arrested two men in relation to the murder of Migos rapper Takeoff, who was shot dead in the early hours of November 1.
Just a month after the fatal shooting, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner announced that a 33-year-old man, Patrick Xavier Clark, has been arrested in relation to Takeoff’s murder.
Cameron Joshua, 22, was also arrested and charged with the illegal possession of a weapon, which is also related to the murder of Takeoff. Finner described Joshua as a “felon”.
Speaking in a conference on Friday, Troy Finner said on Takeoff: “We lost a good man. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting him, but everybody - the hundreds of people that I’ve talked to - spoke on what a great individual he was.”
The 28-year-old rapper was killed at around 2:30AM on Tuesday, November 1, when a shooting broke out at a private party during a game of dice. Migos rapper Quavo was also reportedly at the scene but was not injured.
Shortly after, police appealed for witness accounts of the shooting, claiming that at least 40 people had witnessed the murder. The party was taking place at 810 Billiards & Bowling in Downtown Houston.
Prosecutors in Harris County filed a motion on Friday requesting a $1 million bond for Clark, who has now been arrested and charged with the murder of Takeoff, claiming him to be a “flight risk”.
According to prosecutors, the Houston man reportedly applied for an “expedited passport”, which he received before his arrest. Clark was also found with a large sum of money, all in cash.
Prosecutors are now urging Clark to be stripped of all of his passports, visas, and travel documents, and banned from leaving the “immediate vicinity” of Harris County.
