HNNY to release first album in nearly a decade

The Swedish producer is set to follow up today’s single with a new album, set for release on July 5

HNNY is set to release his first album in nearly a decade next month, ‘Light Shines Through’.

The album has been announced today, alongside the project’s lead single, ‘I’ll come your way’, an ambient and blissful breakbeat driven track that features HNNY’s trademark use of vocal samples.

‘Light Shines Through’ is set to land on July 5, and marks HNNY’s first album since ‘Sunday’, his breakthrough debut album which he independently released nine years ago. A number of singles, remixes and EPs have come out in the years following ‘Sunday’.

The album is reflective of a pivotal period in the producer’s life, following the birth of his two daughters, something that has given him a feeling of perspective and optimism that echoes throughout the project.

Talking on the release and the process of creating a full length album, he said, “I've found it difficult to undertake larger projects like an album, which often take one or more years to complete. But like my previous album, I did everything in a fairly short period of time, about 3 months this time."

He continued, “I wanted to create something more electronic than what I've done in recent years and on a more abstract level, to make a record where I explored something kind of spiritual. Making music about that which cannot be touched.”
