HLZ - 9/10

Rem World EP

30 releases in for Integral, and the quality has barely ever dropped below top notch. HLZ, formerly one half of Need For Mirrors, drops a 10-tonne tech stomper on 'Theia', its grizzled chainsaw bassline chomping up the sonic field ceaselessly like some steroid-pumped anaconda.

Pinioned by sharp, schlocking snares, the entire track almost functions as one vast oscillating electrode, sweeping up the dancefloor and dragging it under. Yet it's flip 'Rem World', with its soft-soled drum programming and intricate patterns that flutter around hypnotic spoken word vocals and modulated bass whispers, that marks this as quality material.

What a debut!
