Greater Manchester's mayor has launched a review into the region's music scene
Andy Burnham will look into how best to support the industry
A review into Greater Manchester’s music scene has been commissioned by the region’s mayor, Andy Burnham, as announced at Low Four Studio.
The mayor’s Twitter says “the review will look into how to best support artists, music venues & businesses to enhance Greater Manchester’s status as a music city-region”.
Speaking at the event, Burnham described how "Greater Manchester has led the way when it comes to British music”.
He added: We must build on this…to truly embed culture and the arts in the heart of our communities and give future generations the opportunities to fulfil their creative potential”, *Mu**sic Week* reported.
Burnham, who will be working with UK Music, hopes “this review will enable us to support artists, businesses and audiences of all genres so that they are able to get more out of creating the music they love”.
