Glastonbury ticket website hit by "technical issues" as passes sell out in an hour

Hopefuls left "frustrated" after SeeTickets website crashes at 9:AM on Sunday

Glastonbury Festival 2023 tickets sold out in just over an hour on Sunday (November 6) after hopefuls were left frustrated due to “technical problems” with ticketing website SeeTickets.

The sale, which began at 9:AM, took roughly twice as long as usual for all the tickets to be allocated — with fans hoping to attend the June festival reporting multiple issues with the booking site.

At 9:49AM, SeeTickets wrote on Twitter: “We’re working on a technical problem. If you’re trying to book @glastonbury tickets please bear with us – we’ll be back up and running again soon.”

The company tweeted at 10:01AM to announce that all of the tickets for the festival had been sold out.

Website crashes left many users frustrated, with one ticket hopeful Tweeting: “Whatever about trying to get into the @glastonbury tickets site, repeatedly getting in and having it crash after you’ve entered the info is a special brand of heartbreak.”

Despite being told that all tickets were allocated, some users reported successfully managing to secure places at the festival after the 10:01AM announcement. One person wrote: “Got Glastonbury tickets 10 minutes after they’d announced sellout, a real thrill to enter the folklore of ‘I know a guy who once kept hitting refresh-‘.”

Emily Eavis, the festival’s co-organiser, apologised to those who missed out. She wrote in a post: “We’re sorry that a huge number of people missed out on a ticket this morning – because demand far outstripped supply.

“Thank you to everyone who tried to buy a ticket. Your loyalty to this festival is deeply appreciated,” it continued. “There will be a ticket resale in spring 2023, so if you didn’t get one, please do try again then.”

A separate sale for tickets including coach packages took place on Thursday November 3 evening, with tickets selling out in just 23 minutes.

Next year’s Glastonbury Festival edition will take place between June 22 and June 26, with tickets costing £335 plus a £5 booking fee. The lineup is yet to be announced.
