Giorgio Moroder returns with a dark new score titled ‘Moyocoyotzin’
Using retro-synths and an eerie motif
Pioneering disco producer Giorgio Moroder steps back into the spotlight with a dark new score for a crime drama titled Queen Of The South.
Produced in collaboration with Raney Shockne, who Moroder worked with on Disney’s Tron RUN/r video game, the material veers away from thew shimmering, feel-good essence of the music that made Moroder a dance music legend. The new track is paired with the upcoming episodes of the Queen Of The South television series, which stars Alice Braga, Peter Gadiot, and Veronica Falcon.
It's been over three decades since Moroder leant his talents to film and TV, yet he has worked on a variety of film and television scores throughout his career. Among his most esteemed work include Cat People, Scarface, Midnight Express, Top Gun and Flashdance. He has won three Oscars for his work in film.
'Moyocoyotzin' is an eerie, retro-synth ballad with nods to Latin and classical music. The track is part of the new television soundtrack released by Lakeshore Records, the label that also released the soundtrack for Stranger Things. Listen below.
