Gimme A Break launch sublabel Aspect, shares new EP from LUZ1E
The new arm of the Yorkshire label focuses on electro, trance, techno and prog-focused sounds
Yorkshire label Gimme A Break has launched its new sub-label, Aspect, to model as an outlet for electro, trance, techno and progressive house as the parent label is set to withhold its focus on UK styles of garage, breaks, dubstep and jungle.
The first release on Aspect comes from LUZ1E, who taps into sounds from the UK, Detroit, Chicago and New York for the electro-infused 'Cerulean' EP which navigates themes of mental health and consequent healing.

With the full record set for release on April 26, the eponymous lead single is available now, which ultimately kicks off the B-side by breathing ambiance in response to an A-side which delves into the labyrinth of mental health, profound struggle and inner turmoil. A shift from sombre energy and fast pace to softer, hopeful and melancholic electro stabs, its sonics reflect a space given for healing and the ebbs and flow of such a process.
"'Cerulean' is a continuation of my musical narrative intertwining themes of mental health, transformation, and introspection contrasting dynamic rhythms and basslines you can feel vibrating in your chest yet also deep and ethereal soundscapes," explains LUZ1E on the record.
"Since starting Gimme A Break in 2020, we've always wanted to work with LUZ1E and therefore launching our new sub-label with her 'Cerulean' EP feels like a full-circle moment!" labelheads Luke and Louis tell Mixmag. "As GAB has always represented a variety of genres, Aspect feels like a natural move for the label and we're delighted to be building a dedicated home for electro, techno, trance and prog in our roster."
