German festival shuts down after thousands of attendees set up camp
Second Horizon was scheduled to go all weekend
The weekend's Second Horizon Festival has been cut short, forcing thousands of attendees to leave the grounds after already entering and setting up campsites.
The three-day German event was scheduled to start today at Liekebush Lake, right outside of Berlin.
Local authorities announced a ban on the festival earlier this month due to being a "threat to public security and order" as well as a lack of installation and camping permits by the event's organizers.
Despite the ban, ticket-holders still showed up on-site Thursday evening.
Nearly 2000 attendees arrived and were allowed to remain on the camping grounds on the basis of an oncoming storm.
Although the festival organizers pushed to file an appeal on the citations, local authorities had no choice but to force all guests to leave the premises Friday morning.
