French Fries & Coni

The ClekClekBoom duo feature on a new CD compiled by Piu Piu

The electronic music coming out of Paris over the last five years or so has been some of the best in recent memory. Sure, you can't discount the French Touch era and the days that Daft Punk ruled the roost but now the output has more substance, more grit and is more forward-thinking than ever before.

Labels like Bromance, Concrete, ClekClekBoom, Sound Pellegrino and Zone have really pushed boundaries with sounds that merge the lines between techno, club music, electro, grime, house and everything in-between. This is something we saw happening a while back but to see these labels grow and evolve has been a refreshing and welcomed sight.

In France, the legendary Rinse has its own station helmed by Manaré and all of these labels have been represented in some way. If you want an insight into the music that's going off across the channel, then this has to be your first port of call.

The station's next release is 'Rinse France présente, Piu Piu - Local Time', a compilation CD curated by city stalwart Piu Piu and she's brought forward some incredible, exclusive new music, all from the station's residents

The CD features unreleased cuts from Francois X & Bambounou, O.Xander, Shlømo and French Fries & Coni and we've got the premiere of the latter's track. We're big fans of both French Fries and Coni, as respectively they've impressed with mechanical, space-age productions on ClekClekBoom.

We're pleased to say 'Liquids' doesn't disappoint.

The track is a dusty, washed out odyssey. An intergalactic journey through sweeping synths, intricate percussion and alien squeaks that trickle in-and-out for the duration. It's an excellent and intelligent piece of music from the pair and one that sits fantastically on the comp.

Rinse France présente, Piu Piu - Local Time will be released via Rinse France on February 26
