Fred Perry x Beams collaboration offers fresh take on classic pieces

Fred Perry and Japanese brand Beams have linked up for a collaborative release that offers a fresh outlook on some of the British brand’s most classic and iconic garments.

Starting as a small shop in the Harajuku district of Tokyo in 1976, Beams has since grown into a significant retail force in Japan, as well as being internationally renowned for their approach to working with global partners.

Playing with the familiar, Beams’ design offers a new take on classic Fred Perry silhouettes and their logo application. Based on the M3600, the twin tipped polo shirts are designed to be over-sized with dropped shoulders, signed off with a repeat Laurel Wreath logo embroidery in colours inspired by tennis courts.

The yarn-dyed stripe T-shirt is also over-sized, with a fine horizontal stripe and the four Laurel Wreaths at the chest in a vertical row.

The bowling shirt, made from 100% cotton, is made with a relaxed fit and open collar and features a large-scale placement of Laurel Wreaths, which are printed as a key feature on the shirt.

The track jacket and trousers with stirrups are made with a heavy tricot, with overarm white striped tape and large Laurel Wreaths on the back of the jacket.

With reference to proper warm-up sports gear, there is also a shell suit with a mesh lining, made with a traditional yet modern sporting blue, with contrast white paneling, Laurel Wreath embroidery and nylon mesh lining.
