Flying Lotus is ‘Crowned’ Captain Murphy on new Adult Swim Singles track
Another psychedelic trip from the mysterious alter-ego
Flying Lotus has dawned his Captain Murphy alias once again for a new track released via the Adult Swim Singles series.
‘Crowned’ is just the third piece of Captain Murphy material to surface since his debut LP, ‘Duality’, which was released anonymously in 2012 before Flying Lotus revealed his true identity. In 2014 he released ‘Cosplay’ and before that a collaboration with Viktor Vaughn, Earl Sweatshirt and Thundercat titled ‘Between Villains’, all of which were released by Adult Swim Singles.
The new track follows suite with previously released Captain Murphy material in that it features experimental production, menacing lyrics, distorted vocals and an overall dark yet psychedelic motif.
The Captain Murphy track is the latest in a list of genre-bending releases to surface on Adult Swim Singles this year with Vince Staples, MICACHU, Earl Sweatshirt, Tim Hecker and more previously lending their tracks to the series.
