First ever remix by Frankie Knuckles to receive a reissue on Dark Entries
The eight-minute remix resurfaces after over 30 years
The first official remix by Frankie Knuckles is receiving a reissue, thanks to San Francisco based label Dark Entries.
Written by Michele Violante for his Jago project, the original version of ‘I’m Going To Go’ was released in 1983 by Full Time Records and first gained momentum in the dance music community through Larry Levan, who played it repeatedly at the Paradise Garage.
In 1985, the label reached out to Levan’s good friend, the late Chicago house artist Frankie Knuckles, to produce a remix of the track. Although the remix is called the ‘Plant Mix’ and the label misspelled his name as “Frankye Knuckles” in the credits, it is still his first official remix release.
The forthcoming reissue is set to drop on 20 August and includes remastered pressings of the original vocal version, instrumental, and Frankie Knuckles remix.
