Fabric will be closed as its license is reviewed "within 28 days"
The London venue was shut at the weekend due to two recent drug-related deaths
Fabric will remain closed until further notice as a review into its license is undertaken.
The London club was shut all weekend following the deaths of two 18-year-old men in the past nine weeks and, according to the Islington Gazzette, the venue will be unable to open its doors for at least 28 days while its license is being reviewed
A statement issued by the Metropolitan Police on Friday reads: "Due to concerns about serious crime associated with fabric nightclub, Islington police made an application to Islington Council for a summary review of the nightclub's license, on 10 August. As a result, the Licensing Sub Committee have decided to suspend the license as an interim measure, pending a full review hearing.
"Officers felt the need to act due to concerns about the safety of those attending the club because of the supply of class A drugs in the venue and the recent deaths of two young men linked to the club. London has a world renowned night-time economy and people should be able to enjoy it safely, without concerns of serious crime. The Met is committed to fully playing its part in keeping people safe."
A spokesman for Islington Council stated that fabric decided not to appeal against its license suspension, adding a review of the license would take place "within 28 days." A further statement from fabric is due to arrive this week.
Islington Council previously tried to impose sniffer dogs and ID scanning at the Farringdon venue, but the club won an appeal at the end of 2015.
