Fabric statement: "Closing Fabric is not the answer to drug-related problems"
The London nightspot has had its license revoked
Fabric has issued a statement after last night's decision that the club will remain closed indefinitely.
A licensing hearing was held at Islington Town Hall, where, after six hours, a licensing sub-committee ruled that "searches were inadequate and in breach of the license".
The club has now released a statement, which reads: "fabric is extremely disappointed with Islington Council's decision to revoke our license. This is an especially sad day for those who have supported us, particularly the 250 staff who will now lose their jobs.
"Closing fabric is not the answer to the drug-related problems. Clubs like ours are working to prevent, and sets a troubling precedent for the future of London's night time economy."
After the hearing, Alan Miller of the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), vowed to fight for fabric and called for "all of Britain to [come together] with the NTIA."
