Fabric to close this weekend following the deaths of two teenagers
An investigation into the drug overdose-induced deaths is underway
Fabric has announced it will be closed this weekend while an investigation into the death of two 18-year-old men is conducted by the club, police and other agencies.
Both of the deaths occurred in the past nine weeks and were caused by drug overdoses, following a period of two years of the club operating without incident.
In a statement posted on Facebook, fabric wrote: “In order to understand how this has happened we have agreed with the police and other agencies to suspend our operation whilst we investigate. The club will therefore be closed this weekend.
"We will make a further statement next week but in the meantime for anyone who has purchased a ticket for the club this weekend, we have instructed Resident Advisor to refund all ticket purchases."
Islington Council attempted to impose security measures such as sniffer dogs and ID scaning on the club in 2014 following drug-related deaths, but fabric won an appeal against the implementation.
