Fabric and Islington Council in "advanced discussions" to reopen club
It's reckoned both parties would save thousands in legal fees
Lawyers for fabric and Islington Town Hall are in talks about revised licensing conditions which could see the club reopen, according to a local report.
The Farringdon club's appeal is due to take place on November 28, but the Islington Tribune states the two parties could reach a deal next week. This all depends on getting a judge to Highbury Magistrates' Court to authorise the new conditions.
Cameron Leslie, the club's co-owner, said he's not "at liberty to say whether [discussions] are being had or not", but did confirm a “non-disclosure agreement”.
Shut since September following two drug-related deaths, the club has promised to run at a "gold standard" if allowed to reopen, putting forward 32 revised licence conditions.
The Tribune believes such a deal between the two parties would save each of them thousands of pounds in legal fees. So far, fabric has raised over £320,000 in donations.
Although not denying talks are in place, a council spokesman said "we don’t have any other comment" ahead of the planned appeal.
