Elijah and Jammz announce new album ‘Make The Ting’ using ideas from yellow squares
It explores the Butterz head honcho’s Instagram project, which provides snippets of music industry advice and issues
Elijah and Jammz have announced a new collaborative grime album 'Make The Ting', where they explore the themes from Elijah’s Instagram 'Yellow Squares' idea.
The album was announced by Elijah yesterday via an Instagram post, which features videos of the pair in the studio, snippets of the forthcoming music, as well as breaking the news to a small crowd in Japan.
The post’s caption read: “Last month I reached out to Jammz about expanding the music universe for the squares following a one off we did together last year ‘Yellow Square’.

“Across Zoom and iMessage in 14 days we went from idea to writing and recording,” Elijah continued.
“The speed of turnaround was part of the creative challenge for both of us. Jammz took apart the writing I’ve been doing here for the past 18 months and put it in lyrical form, to my home sound as a DJ, Grime.
“We will be developing this project in real time, there is no ‘plan.’ Nobody knows what’s going to happen next.”

The 'Yellow Squares' provide snippets of advice and discussion into issues within the music industry and beyond. Previous Yellow Squares have examined the role of booking agents, grant funding and whether artists need managers.
Now those themes and snippets have been reconstructed and explored as full verses and bars.
The album features productions from Royal-T, DJ Q, Jack Dat, Gesher, Hitman Tiga & Insomniak, Cory Syx and Blay Vision.
‘Make The Ting’ was recorded in just a single day at Ten87 Studios, with the album mastering by dubstep and grime DJ/producer Joker.
