Eddie Amador (Ardalan Remix)

A Yoshitoshi classic receives an appropriate reinvention

The renowned Yoshitoshi Recordings was first established in 1994 by legendary duo Deep Dish, making it a classic and early staple in the realm of electronic music imprints.

Any music head knows that maintaining a label is no easy feat, and for Yoshitoshi to have prevailed for well over a decade is a testament to Sharam and Dubfire's tastemaking sense for timeless new tracks.

The label also incepted a fun way to pay homage to its earliest records with modern takes on dance music today with the Yoshi Classic series, which sees new age artists remixing the most beloved and celebrated releases from the label's past.

For the 11th installment, Yoshitoshi invited Dirtybird maverick Ardalan to take on an Eddie Amador classic, 'Psycho X Girlfriend'. Listen to the 2000 original and already, one might hear the spaces ready for a dose of signature, bumping Dirtybird-style booty house kicks. Leave it to Ardy to follow in suit of the tune's very own cheeky name, heightening the remix with a sultry bass line that plays perfectly against a dry vocal sample that tells a tale of the unwanted love triangle.

What a difference 16 years can make, huh?

Ardalan's take on 'Psycho X Girlfriend' will be part of a double A-side release (with remixer CJ Jeff) on Yoshitoshi, out September 26.
