EDC Las Vegas changes annual dates and introduces on-site camping

The flagship edition of Electric Daisy Carnival moved to Las Vegas in 2011 and traditionally has always been hosted towards the end of June.

CEO of Insomniac Events Pasquale Rotella has announced that the next edition of EDC, set for 2019, will now be moved earlier in the year on the weekend of May 18 to 20. By moving the festival earlier into the year, the festival hopes to land on a weekend with cooler temperatures.

In addition, the festival will also introduce an on-site camping program that will include options for air-conditioned tents, "premier" tents with beds, all-inclusive RVs or the option to bring your own RV to the grounds. The addition of camping options aims at the major traffic issues that have surrounded EDC Las Vegas every year, with attendees reporting spending two to four hours stuck in incoming and outbound traffic around the event.

"After a lot of brainstorming and feedback from our community, we have decided to move next year's festival to May 18, 19 and 20. This way we can enjoy cooler weather, the gates can open earlier and we can hold a very special opening ceremony each day at cosmicMEADOW," Rotella explained in a statement. "I'm also excited to announce that for the first time ever at EDC we'll be building an immersive camping experience right next to the Speedway, which will eliminate traffic all together for campers. Shuttle operations will be handed over to an independent company that specializes in the largest music and sporting events in the country. This is what they do and they do it better than anyone else, year over year."
