DJ Earl worked with Oneohtrix Point Never on forthcoming Teklife album
The Chicago producer revealed OPN "was very hands on" in the process
DJ Earl has revealed his new Teklife LP was co-made with Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never.
The unlikely pairing came together after mutually appreciating each other’s sets at Vancouver’s New Form Festival, after which Lopatin asked Earl to release on his Software imprint.
Earl said to Wine and Bowties: “He played this crazy next-level set, and then later on caught my set and reached out, and told me, 'I want you to come to Software.' I wasn’t that familiar with what he did at the time, but he’s an amazing guy.”
Following their meeting, the duo began to work together on a new DJ Earl full-length that’s arriving on the Teklife label, with the young Chicago-based artist further revealing: “I have a record coming out on Teklife, and Daniel did get involved with the record. We put together the entire album together actually, he was very hands on.”
It was also announced on Monday that Earl will feature on the new posthumous DJ Rashad album ‘Afterlife’ that is due to land on Teklife in April.
