Diplo: "A lot of DJs are pretty boring"

Skrillex also jumped to the defence of Justin Bieber in a joint interview with his Jack Ü partner

If you've got no stage presence when you're on the decks, it's likely Diplo's not digging what you're doing.

During an interview by American journalist Charlie Rose, with Skrillex also at the table, Diplo hailed his Jack Ü partner's performance impact, saying other DJs don't always live up to him in comparison.

"He's the first guy I met in this DJ world that has a rock star presence. He's from a band so he can handle himself on stage. A lot of DJs, they're pretty boring."

It may be this reputation as one of the biggest dance music musicians in the world that led to the Guardian linking him ("Molly's ascent into the mainstream lexicon has roughly coincided with the ascent of Skrillex...") to the increased use of 'molly' in the United States, an assumption he laughed off.

He said: "I make music and don't sell drugs. I don't condone drugs and I don't use drugs. If you look at the patterns of any era that had music that exploded in youth culture, just because of the ratio of how big it is, that creates a bigger ratio of drugs that get used.

"Just like cocaine in disco. There's always been drugs and this year just happened to be molly. Before there was Skrillex, no matter what the Guardian says, MDMA and ecstasy has been in rave and underground club music since the beginning."

And we know we're as guilty as anyone for slating Justin Bieber, but Skrillex has got a lot of time for the guy who doesn't seem to be liked by Miami door staff.

"No matter what anyone says, he's maybe one of the most talented people I've ever been in the studio with. 100 per cent."
