Developers want to build apartments in Revolver's building
Fancy sharing an address with the 24 hour Melbourne club?
Anyone who likes to party in Melbourne has spent a solid portion of their life living at Revolver. But soon you might actually be able to sleep there as well if developers have their way.
A planning permit application to partially demolish the Chapel St site that houses the nightclub, which is open all hours from Friday to Monday, and extend it to include 26 apartments has been submitted to the local City of Stonnington council.
The 'Colosseum' building is protected by a heritage overlay but the Macquarie St building behind would be fully demolished. The new development would also have space for shops, offices and a cafe.
In possibly the best sentence to ever appear on a planning application, the description of the works reads in brackets: "the existing nightclub will remain, with no changes to operating hours and capacity."
Responsibility lies with developers to soundproof buildings near established venues in the state of Victoria, of which Melbourne is the capital, so Revs would be protected from any noise complaints from any pesky new residents.
