Dawn Wall
Stunning work from the unidentified act
The identity (or identities) of Dawn Wall is wanted so much, there's a thread on DNB Forum called 'Dawn Wall Sweepstake'. The guessing game's been going on for over a year now, with names like Alix Perez, Lenzman, Camo & Krooked and Loadstar being thrown into the mix.
Whoever it is, they're making some super lush drum 'n' bass filled with illustrious melodies and angelic vocals. A regular on Integral Records, DW's delectable liquid includes the soothing 'Kythera' and 'If I Smiled', a track delving into deeper, more moody territory.
The sharp teeth teased on 'If I Smiled' reared themselves on 'Round Table', part of the 'Longshanks' EP, last year. This one's littered with searing synths and a terrifyingly chomping bassline. Basically, Dawn Wall is just as adept at making d'n'b lullabies as tracks to induce musical nightmares.
New track 'Embers' falls under the former category, packed with dreamy chimes, lingering synths and a vocal coated with an immense, glistening sheen. We might not know who's behind the alias, but we know they're able to create stunners.
The 'Ember' EP is out this month
