David Bowie and John Lennon’s handwriting has been turned into a typeface

Kurt Cobain and Leonard Cohen's penmanship has also been turned into fonts

As reported by NME, music icons David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Serge Gainsbourg and Leonard Cohen have had their handwriting turned into fonts that can be downloaded via the website Songwriters Fonts.

The fonts have been developed with the help of handwritten letters and lyric sheets from each of the famous rock artists.

Julien Sens and Nicolas Damiens explained the inspiration behind the project on the website introduction: “Writing lyrics with the handwriting of influential songwriters helps imagination to develop. Being in the mood of Bowie, Cobain, Cohen, Gainsbourg, Lennon, might be purely imaginative… but that’s precisely the point.”

Dedications to many of these late and great artists continue to see the light of day since their passing, such as this crowdfunded David Bowie statue that was vandalized after its unveiling.
