Dance music dominates Google Play Music festival charts
Dance acts took 80 per cent of the charts
Google Play Music has unveiled the results of its Ultimate Festival playlist, with dance music dominating the Most Played Artists and Most Played Tracks charts.
Duke Dumont leads the artists, in a top ten list that further includes Skrillex and Diplo's project Jack Ü (pictured), Calvin Harris, The Chemical Brothers, Sigma, Rudimental, Avicii and Major Lazer. Singer-songwriters Hozier and James Bay are the only non-dance entries.
Calvin Harris' collaboration with Haim 'Pray To God' was the most played track, with all of the above artists except one also featuring. Avicii missed out, with Calvin Harris continuing his world domination taking two spots in the top ten. Harris' aptly titled 'Summer' came in at ninth spot.
Rory Woodbridge, Streaming Lead for Google Play Music says: "We're seeing dance music is becoming more and more popular amongst Google Play music subscribers this year and it's great to see such a mix of talent, old and new."
Mixmag editor Duncan Dick said: "From the mainstream charts to underground vinyl-only labels, from the main stages of huge international festivals to warehouse parties, from Ibiza to the Isle Of Wight, dance music has perhaps never been as vibrant, healthy and popular as it is right now in the summer of 2015."
