Culture Shock (Jakwob remix)
Hefty remix of the Ram/Virgin EMI release
Culture Shock (pictured) may have been producing since 2004, setting up camp at Andy C's Ram Records, but there's a little feeling that this year could be his best yet.
Despite over 10 years in the production game, there's been no album from James Poutney yet, just a slew of EPs and singles like the blazing 'Asteroids', 2012's 'I Remember' or last year's bleepy 'Raindrops'.
New single 'City Lights', with vocals from Bryn Christopher, sees him step it up a level, signing to Virgin EMI, getting a world premiere from Annie Mac and having Ram boss Andy C saying it's "classic, timeless d'n'b" and "one of the most in-demand tracks" he's ever played.
Just to make sure the whole package is a belter, Ram and Virgin have pulled in battering bass producer Jakwob for a remix. True to fashion he's smothered it with a suitable amount of crunch to make it a certified skanker.
'City Lights' feat Bryn Christopher is released via Ram/Virgin EMI on May 25. Buy the original on Beatport and pre-order it on iTunes
